Field Manual — Chapter II
Every duo operates better when each traveller knows their station. These five archetypes have emerged from hundreds of mapped campaigns.
5 Archetypes
No role is superior. The best duos rotate them across campaigns.
Holds position, draws fire, and creates space. The anchor is patient, methodical, and trusts their partner to capitalize on the openings they create.
Sees before being seen. The scout calls threats, spots weak points, and rarely fires first. Information is their primary weapon.
Keeps the duo alive through buffs, heals, and crowd control. The support reads the battlefield for danger, not glory.
Strikes when the moment is exact. The finisher has the highest damage output but depends on the anchor and scout to set the table. They do not engage alone.
Adapts to whatever the mission demands. The utility role switches loadouts mid-campaign, solves environmental puzzles, and fills gaps when another role falters.
Standout Feature
Before any campaign begins, the duo must agree on one immutable rule: no overlapping primary roles. If both players build for damage, there is no one to absorb pressure. If both build for support, nothing dies.
The Loadout Covenant is a verbal contract made in the pre-mission menu. It specifies who anchors, who finishes, and who adapts. It includes a fallback clause: if one player is eliminated, the other temporarily absorbs their responsibilities until the revive.
